Making marriage work through Christ

As my mind finally finds itself being tired again tonight (I had an 8:30 p.m. bedtime), I owe it to finding peace in the Lord. Lately without even knowing that my marriage could use some work, the Lord began working in it. One day while I was doing some housework the Lord spoke to me and reminded me of how my husband shows me that he loves me in the little ways.

I am lucky to be married to a man who not only is a good provider, but lets me rest when I need to, helps me around the house, and has stood by me through my battle with postpartum depression. These are small and big examples. I believe in our marriage that we have such a special and spiritual connection that we are normally in tune with each other. When we don't take that time out to spend with each other, we're not connected. As most married couples know, it is very hard to keep the connection alive between life's every day responsibilities. Throw in managing a relationship with Jesus, how do you even keep your days straight?

In our own ways, we make life work. Communicating with your spouse is one of the best ways to make life easier. Do something for your spouse today. Just something small. Anything to remind them of how much you love them. Pray that the Lord gives you a new love for your spouse, one unlike you've ever had before. We've been married for just under two years and it just amazes me when the Lord does this to me already. It's like that newly married feeling all over again.

"It is more blessed to give than to receive." - Acts 20:35
