Kitchen Reno Part I: The Demo

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you may have seen a few of my posts about our kitchen renovation. We bought our first home at the end of August 2014. Like many first time homeowners, we purchased a fixer upper. We bought a home that had things we needed, things we wanted (main floor laundry!), and things that needed to be fixed. The first big project on our list was what I call The Mismatched Kitchen.

As you can see, we had some 1950's and 1990's cabinets going on! I'm happy to say that a good majority of the cabinets, the old sink, the cabinet doors, and other materials have been passed onto other individuals to be re-purposed or reused for their own projects. In fact, I saved a couple of the cabinet doors to make chalk boards.

The renovation was probably the easiest part. Since I'm pregnant, I didn't take part in much of this. My husband and his friend ripped out most everything in a weekend. I know they had a lot of fun doing it! We're a month in and nearly done with the project at this point...be sure to stay tuned!

  2. Renovations can be a handful. We've been renovating numerous parts of our rental house (we have such low rent that it is worth renovating since we will be living here for a long time) and the kitchen is one that is taking the longest and we haven't touched it in 2 years and I'm not even pregnant haha. Good luck renovating :)

  3. I remember redoing our kitchen. We had some 1970s cabinets. It was so nice to get them out!
