BYOU Magazine For Tween and Teen Girls | Holiday Gift Guide 2016

My husband and I have a teenage niece who we are extremely close to. She has a rough background and used to have a lot of negative influences in her life. When it came to shopping for her last Christmas, I wanted to get her something useful. She loves to read, so I started researching magazines for girls her age.

BYOU (Be Your Own You!) Magazine is truly an inspirational and positive publication for girls about ages 8-16. In a culture where women and girls are regarded as sex symbols, it's so important to reinforce the message of self value and self-esteem. Every issue of BYOU Magazine honors extraordinary women. Some mentioned on their website include Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony, Serena Williams, Bethany Hamilton, and many more.

Every issue features: positive celebrity role models, self-esteem tips, girl-world advice, posters, quizzes, crafts, games, giveaways, contests, silly stuff, and much more!

If you're shopping for a last minute gift this year, a subscription to BYOU Magazine is the perfect gift. Subscription for one year is just $17.97 and comes with a digital subscription for mobile devices. You can even get a free gift announcement available for printing or e-mailing.

  1. This is such a great idea. As a younger kid, I really appreciated Highlights - the magazine for children. And, there isn't much for the teenaged years out there!

  2. That's a great positive message so many need to hear. It's nice to see a magazine with that message, since so many pay attention to what's in print media.

  3. This looks like a nice gift for the holiday. I love magazine subscriptions. They send all the way to my mail box. Will share this with friends who has teens.

  4. Wow what a cool magazine. I feel like I wish I had had this as a teen girl. So uplifting to see!

  5. I read a really positive magazine for teen girls when I was younger and I loved it! This sounds like an equally great magazine... I might have to pick up a copy for my younger sister.

  6. This is a refreshing change from the usual teenage magazines. And I agree, a great gift for the teenagers in our lives!

  7. Now this sounds like a magazine worth reading and gifting to those in the teen years. It is certainly different from what has been out there up to now.

  8. Nice seeing a magazine for teens with positive messaging

  9. This sounds like a wonderful magazine for teen girls! Kudos to you for being a light in your niece's life!
