First of all, I have to say what a gem of a book this is. All You Need is Less: The Eco-Friendly Guide to Guilt-Free Green Living and Stress-Free Simplicity is right up my alley. In this guide to green simplicity, Madeleine Somerville discusses a variety of ways we can all simplify our lives.
We have been working really hard to simplify our own lifestyle. It’s really easy to get caught up in the, “I need this, I want that!” mindset of modern society. We did the 40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge at the end of winter. It was really helpful to purge our home. There’s less to clean up and that’s a big help. We’ve also significantly cut down on the number of toys that our kids have. It it doesn’t get used, it gets given away or sold.
All You Need is Less gives me even more ideas on simplying our lifestyle. One of my favorite parts of this book is that Somerville offers a variety of recipes and ideas in order to help you simplify your grocery budget. There’s a really good one for Punch-yourself-in-the-face salsa. The recipes made me realize everything I can make at home and save money in the grocery store.
In the book, you will also find information on herb gardens, composting, a DIY baby wipes recipe, curbing excess holiday clutter, reducing waste in the grocery store, and so much more. If you want to learn more about simplifying your own life and going green at the same time, be sure to pick up this book.
