From my blog name, you can tell that I have three kids close in age. Respectively they are 4 1/2, 2 1/2, and 16 months. No matter how hard I try, my house always seems to get messy right after everything gets cleaned and picked up. It is most definitely a never ending cycle. With my kids being the ages they are, they absolutely love being mommy’s big helpers!
Saturday evening my mom came to town to help me with the kids and house for a few hours. As I previously mentioned, I had been battling an infection that spread to my cheek and under my eye from a broken tooth. The house was absolutely in shambles since I hadn’t been able to do much since Tuesday and my husband can only tame the mess so much with his crazy work schedule. My mom was kind enough to do some dishes, sweep, and mop my floor…
Come Sunday morning, I come downstairs and think to myself, “wow, does my kitchen floor look awesome!” As all of you other parents know, that never lasts long! My two younger ones got cereal all over the floor under the table. Then come the mid-morning whine, as I call it. By 10 a.m., they are whining for more food since it’s an hour or so before lunch and are basically getting bored. To keep them busy and to keep me sane for the moment, I convinced all three of them to help me clean up the floor. My 4 year old swept, my 2 year old held the dust pan and I dumped it into the garbage. My 16 month old grabbed the mop and “mopped”.
It wasn’t perfect, but they did a good job. They are only so little for a while, so I might as well have fun with them before friends and cars are more important than time with mommy.
