“Izzy and Poe” Children’s Book Review + Giveaway (Ends 12/22)

{Disclaimer: Our family received a copy of “Izzy and Poe” for review purposes only. All opinions and experiences are my own and may differ from you own.}

About the author: Anita Felicelli is a Bay Area writer and mother whose writing has appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Review of Books, The Rumpus, Babble, Brain Child, Publishing Perspectives, and elsewhere. The illustrator is Lindsay Merrill, a fine artist based in Pittsburgh.

“Izzy and Poe” is an illustrated children’s book geared at ages 4-8. While our three year old doesn’t always have the patience to sit down for longer stories, our oldest two children do. Matthew is six and Cheyenne is four. Last night, we sat down to read “Izzy and Poe” before bedtime.

What I love about this book is that the story line is completely appropriate for children in this age range. The illustrations are vivid and bright. They kept the attention of my children who sometimes have ants in their pants. 😉 Matthew loved reading about these two Corgis who meet a naughty parrot who says he can teach them how to fly. Matthew’s favorite part of the story is at the beginning when Izzy was barking at the four horses on the beach.

Cheyenne is a very creative little girl and loves taking pictures. She wanted to take a couple of pictures with mommy’s cell phone to show her favorite parts of the book.

Cheyenne loved the green parrot, Captain Jack and when Izzy and Poe tried to fly.

If you’re still looking for a Christmas gift, this would be great for any child aged 4-8. You can purchase “Izzy and Poe”, you can on Amazon. Be sure to follow on Facebook and Twitter.
