Every Monday, I’m linking up with some other lovely ladies to blog about motherhood! I decided to join this series, because motherhood is what’s on my mind these days. I’ve entered a new phase of motherhood having three school age kids and still having two in the toddler/baby years. We definitely have a lot going on and it takes a lot of balancing on my end.
I think that there’s a lot of misconceptions out in the world. The biggest one about motherhood would be that we have to do it all. I think I often make people sick when I talk about everything I do in one day, on top of homeschooling and raising five kids. But as in every home, the cycle never ends. There is always something to be done.
Right now, my husband isn’t home a lot because of work, so everything at home falls on me. I have been quite overwhelmed by it lately. Usually I can balance the kids, house, and homeschooling pretty well. But my brain is overloaded. Part of it is due to extra stress we have right now and the other part is honestly me not being organized enough after the holidays.
When I have a jam packed schedule with school work, appointments, enrichment activities, social outings, etc., it’s very easy for me to not be able to take care of what’s important in all of that. I have had to learn to say “no” to a lot of things lately and some people don’t like it. As much as I hate to say it, sometimes it just has to be said. My poor fried brain can’t take one more things and the kids just want to relax for a while.
I think it’s important for us to remember that we don’t have to do it all. In the end, our families are our number one responsibility and we need to do what’s best for them. If adding one more commitment to your calendar is extremely overwhelming, it’s probably best to just say no, or please keep me in mind for next time.
