Packing for a Weekend Trip

Traveling with kids is no easy feat. When we went to Des Moines a couple of years ago, our trip was very last minute. I actually ended up packing too much of what we didn’t need and too little of what we should have brought! It was an expensive mistake and also took up a lot of time.

We spent time and money at various stores purchasing swimming suits, food, and whatever else you can think of. I’m definitely planning out our next trip better, starting with a list of items that I know we will need for sure. At the same time, I don’t want to overpack.

Packing up a family is never easy, especially when you have four kids. I think I’ve come up with a basic list of what we could use. Since we’re just going away for a weekend, we don’t need to bring a lot of items with us. Then again, who knows what can happen with four young kids?!

Here’s my list so far:
* Swimming suits for everyone
* Pool floaties
* Lunch for the road / easy snacks
* Clothes for two days
* Diapers & wipes
* Games & extra batteries
* Spare cell phone charger

For a short weekend trip, hopefully this is a sufficient list. What kinds of things would you bring on a weekend trip with young kids? Do you have any ideas as to what I could add to my list?
