I don’t think there’s much worse than being 30 weeks pregnant and sick with pneumonia. For two days, I’ve had a wonderful cough and no voice. After calling a million (okay, five) doctors and they wouldn’t get me in, my midwife saved the day by calling me in a prescription. I’ve never been more grateful for antibiotics.
On this Thanksgiving morn’, I am wide awake very early from random coughing fits. And I’m in that lovely stage of pregnancy where I have to get up to pee fifty times a night. Only about ten more weeks to go!
It’s hard to believe it’s Thanksgiving. It seems like we were just celebrating Guggy’s birthday in June. As this year comes closer to an end, we prepare for the arrival of our new baby. My other babies will turn 6, 4, and 3 in 2013. Typing that gives me a funny feeling in my chest. I can’t believe how fast time is going by.
After a rough go of it household wise in October, I think things are finally calming down. It felt like things were just spiraling out of control. Things aren’t perfect, but we’ve thankfully seen more respectful attitudes out of the children instead of blatantly ignoring household rules, pushing boundaries and general mouthiness. It was an exhausting season to have gone through and I’m glad it’s over…until the next time.
So I am grateful I had the patience to guide my children out of this time period. To recognize what sensitive hearts my older two children have. To watch my giant baby leave his baby phase and become what he thinks is a big kid at just age 2. I’m grateful that we’ve settled into our homeschool life this first year with few bumps along the way. Thankful for a God who remains faithful to us in the hard times.
From our family to yours, have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
