I loathe being an allergy sufferer. My friends joke that I am allergic to life, because I suffer from seasonal allergies, food allergies, and I’m allergic to some animals too. All jokes aside, it can really make it hard for me to function sometimes. I have sneezed and sniffled through many of my children’s ball games just to be there for my kids. If you have a new baby, it’s also a good idea to become familiar with newborn sneezing.
Luckily, I have found a few hacks to help me cope with my allergies so I don’t miss out on life.
Neti Pots are a favorite of some allergy sufferers. With a Neti Pot, you use 16 ounces of distilled or boiled lukewarm water with a teaspoon of salt to do a sinus rinse. It’s especially helpful for when you’re really congested. Neti Pots are relatively inexpensive and at most stores or Amazon.
There are many uses for essential oils. I diffuse them in several rooms in our home most days of the week. What company you order oils from is up to you, but I encourage you to research the company you feel most comfortable with. I personally buy my oils from Plant Therapy and doTERRA.
I don’t recommend ingesting oils. I use an oil diffuser to use them aromatically. After learning to dilute oils properly, we also use them topically with a carrier oil like coconut oil. You can explore many ways to use oils!

Local Raw Honey
The idea behind local raw honey is that a person is ingesting local bee pollen and this makes them less sensitive to the pollen. Usually you would want to obtain honey within 50 miles of where you live.
Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
Taking a teaspoon of ACV each morning is thought to have an antihistamine effect on the body. I won’t lie though, it’s pretty hard to swallow for me sometimes. Mixing with honey or lemon juice is usually helpful.
Going to a doctor for blood work or other allergy tests can be really important. It’s important to know what exactly you are allergic to so you can avoid those allergens.
If any of these natural remedies aren’t helping my allergies, I do call a doctor. There are times my allergies start bringing on my asthma and then I need to turn to medical solutions like my inhaler and traditional allergy meds.
